Strategic Location

The existing port at Redi is located along the Konkan Coast in Vengurla Taluka of Sindhudurg district, Maharashtra (15045’ N latitude and 73039’ E longitude). The proposed site lies 85 km north of Goa and 150 km south of Ratnagiri with relative proximity to major cargo generating centers in Kolhapur, Sangli, and North Karnataka and the iron ore mines at Sindhudurg, North Goa and Bellary Hospet. The site has got the strategic leverage of being located immediately south of Rainy Point amidst the shelter formed by rocky projections.

It is well-connected by road and rail and with the upcoming international airport at Pernem, Goa and the newly launched Greenfield domestic airport in Sindhudurg. The new airport at Chipi has given a tremendous boost to the project and aims to enhance its viability. A new railway line connecting Sawantwadi Station to the Redi Port is in the advanced stage. Further, a four-lane coastal road connecting Redi Port to the State Highway is in the developmental stage.

Rich Hinterland

The rich hinterland of the port currently consists of multiple Iron Ore Mines and Bauxite Mines in close proximity. However, our future plans also include one or more liquid berths, ship repair, shipbreaking, Free Trade Warehousing Zone etc. are just a few of the factors automatically widen the scope for developing Redi Port to its optimum capacity.

Current Facilities

The port is currently operational exporting about 5 million tons of cargo per annum. Once fully developed and operational it is estimated to handle traffic of about 30 million tons of cargo per annum.

Future Development

  • Special Economic Zone
  • Have established a full-fledged facility for the supply of various engineering spares and goods for bunkering of oil rigs
  • To create opportunities for backward and forward integration with respect to manufacturing power plants, steel plants and plants for grinding of clikers/bagging of cement
  • To create opportunities and improve the local supply of iron ore to meet the massive demand for it.
  • To attract bulk cargo with respect to sugar, bauxite, cement, coal, rock phosphate and chemicals.
